We are working closely with members of the Crime Reduction Partnership to make our towns safer places. In 2008 we re-launched the Shopwatch Radio scheme.
Being a member of the Shopwatch Radio scheme gives you:
- Direct contact with the CCTV camera operations centre
- Direct contact with police
- Direct contact with other radio users
- Monthly updates of photos of known offenders
- Updates on the latest crime statistics
- Membership window stickers as a deterrent to offenders
- Regular networking meetings for information sharing and guest speakers
We have a radio in our offices as do the Kirklees Community Rangers and the police, together we are working towards safer and crime free town centres.
The radios for the system are supplied by Marlborough Radio Services Ltd.
If you wouldlike a radioThere are two payment options -
Option 1 – Loan a Radio from Marlborough Radio Services
You will receive a brand new Radiolink radio which will be replaced if it ceases to work to make sure you remain an active part of the network. The loan radio will remain the property of Marlborough Radio.
The annual rental fee for 2011 is £200 which can be paid in four quarterly instalments of £50, plus the additional fee of £25 per year payable to Batley and Dewsbury Towns’ Management for the Radiolink licence (the licence fee may be subject to annual review). The funds from the licence fee are to pay for essential maintenance to the system.
Option 2 – Purchase your own Radio and Charger
If you wish to buy your own Radiolink Radio and charger, the cost is £268.50 + vat plus the additional fee of £25 per year for the Radiolink licence (the licence fee may be subject to annual review). The funds from the licence fee are to pay for essential maintenance to the system.
