Towns’ Management work in partnership with the Green Business Network (GBN) to run the Green Business Awards. The Green Business Awards aim to highlight environmental best practice and to encourage businesses in Batley and Dewsbury to adopt further measures to help them reduce their environmental impact and save money.
The awards recognise businesses that are working hard to reduce their carbon footprint and help the environment. Examples include setting up a recycling scheme, changing to low voltage lighting to reduce energy use and encouraging staff to cycle or use public transport instead of driving to work. Judges will be looking for examples of commitment and innovation that have a real impact and can be used as best practice to help other businesses in the future.
All businesses that enter the awards will be invited to attend an awards ceremony later in the year where the winners will receive their official award as well as prize money towards environmental improvements.
The awards and prizes are as follows:
Kirklees Green Business of the Year Award – £300
North Kirklees Green Business of the Year Award – £200
Huddersfield Green Business of the Year Award – £200*
Award for Best Waste Reduction Initiative – £150
Award for Best Energy Reduction Initiative – £150
*Any Kirklees based business with a HD postcode can win this award
The awards are sponsored by the Green Business Network, Batley & Dewsbury Towns’ Management and Kirklees Council. The winners will also receive coverage in the sponsors’ newsletters and websites as well as other local media.
