Batley Halloween Trick or Treating
Next Event 26th October 2007
Batley resounded to the shrieks and cries of "happy little haunters" on Friday 27th October 2006 for our Halloween Trick or Treating event.
A Fancy Dress Competition for children aged 12 and under was staged in the Town Centre and it is has become a firm favourite with both the children and the traders of the town.
The trick or treaters wound their way through the town centre, stopping at shops who agreed to take part to frighten the shopkeepers into handing out free treats for the children.
This year the merry troupe were led by Assistant Towns' Manager Viv Edmonds with the artistic help of creative dance and drama teachers; Sarah Taylor from the Sarah Taylor School of Dance and Supriya from Manasamitra. Both of these businesses are based in Batley and perform shows regularly at Batley Town Hall and other venues in the region.
A big thank you to all of the businesses who were kind enough to take part this year:
- Charnocks Bakers
- Domino Bridal
- Firths Furnishings (who really got into the spirit of the event by dressing up and hosting a Halloween Stall outside of their premises)
- The Flower Shop
- Sharpe Glass China and Gifts
- Batley Library
- Brearleys Solicitors
- Specsavers
- Boots the Chemist
- The Mill Batley (who gave us all welcome refreshments at the end of our journey.)
Call Towns' Management on 01924 324660 for details of how to enter for 2007.
