Businesses blooming with baskets!
Dewsbury businesses have been keen to snap up the bargain hanging baskets offered for sale by Kirklees Nurseries this year.
The Towns' Management team have been able to offer the baskets at a reduced rate thanks to the support of Dewsbury Area Committee, resulting in a 30% increase in sales over last year.
Last week all of the businesses displaying hanging baskets were judged to find out which one had added the most kerb appeal to their premises with their floral displays. The judges included Councillor Eric Firth, Chair of Dewsbury Area Committee, Kirklees Street Warden, Debra Moran, Dewsbury in Bloom Committee member Paul Clapton and Viv Edmonds and Jason Ward of the Towns' Management Team.
The judges were impressed with the efforts that local businesses had made to make their premises look appealing and attractive to customers with many new businesses taking part and purchasing hanging baskets this year.
The winners will be announced at the Tidy Trader and In Bloom Awards Party which the Towns Management Team will host at The Redbrick Mill on 25th October this year.
Viv Edmonds, Assistant Towns' Manager said "I would like to thank all of the businesses for their efforts to make the town look vibrant and attractive to shoppers and visitors, both by displaying hanging baskets and also by taking part in the Tidy Trader competition which looks for the tidiest premises in the town."
Councillor Eric Firth said "I am delighted at the number of retailers and businesses who have taken part this year and already a number of businesses have expressed an interest in participating next year. There will be a further push on sales by The Dewsbury Chamber of Trade to help the Towns' Management team to boost this excellent scheme."
