Dewsbury Matters Local History Group created the trail and Batley and Dewsbury Towns' Management have produced an accompanying trail leaflet which will be available at the event. The trail is for all members of the community to find out about and celebrate the heritage of the town.

The Blue Plauque Trail has been devised by members of the Dewsbury Matters group to encourage people to walk around the town and enjoy its fine historic buildings. Each plaque tells the significance of that building to the life and heritage of the town.

Funding for the plaques and the trail leaflet was provided by Dewsbury Area Committee.
