Dewsbury 10K Run
With temperatures hovering at zero but with bright winter sunshine runners were set off on this fast course by Jane Tomlinson MBE.
The runners enjoyed the downhill start from the Dewsbury Ring Road before turning into Bradford Road, otherwise known as the Yorkshire Mill Mile and then racing out beyond Wilton Park at Batley.
Celebrity Nell McAndrew raced for the first time since the birth of her son, Devon, in August. Nell said" it is great to be back running again and I am delighted that my first race is the Dewsbury 10k, it is so well organised and such a friendly atmosphere."
The winner of the men's race this year was Billy Farquarson of Notts Athletic Club with a time of 30mins 11 secs. Four other men finished the race in less than 31 minutes. Alex Gostling of Leeds City Athletic Club won the female race with a time of 35 mins 20 secs.
Dewsbury Road Runners were supported by various voluntary groups and Earlsheaton Technology College along with the Police and Highways.
