Over 60 local business women attended a networking event with a difference last week, as Batley and Dewsbury Towns’ Management joined forces with the Local Ladies group.
The area’s first ever Better Business Browse event was held at The Mill in Batley, giving guests the chance to take advantage of exclusive shopping offers as well as network with one another informally.
Local Ladies are a community of business women within Calderdale and Kirklees who network both online and offline. The group has been set up by a partnership of Ramsdens Solicitors, HSBC, Heritage Lofts and Revell Ward to help businesses promote their services, share ideas, contacts, resources, provide helpful tips and inspiration.
All with a view to helping each other generate business and to become more successful, whilst keeping business in Kirklees and Calderdale.
Cllr David Sheard, Cabinet Member for Regeneration in North Kirklees said,
“We’re pleased to be working closely with private sector groups, such as Local Ladies , to run events like this. It was a great turnout for a first event, it’s clear that local business people welcome opportunities to network and support one another.”
Paula Hammerton, Marketing Manager at the Mill said “Thursday nights are not normally the busiest shopping time at The Mill, but the store was enlivened when Towns’ Management and Local Ladies created a tailor made networking event which was well attended and saw our retail sales well up on the usual takings for a Thursday night. I have received positive feedback from the businesses within The Mill who have all asked if we can now hold this as a regular event. ”
The next Better Business Browse event will take place at The Mill in November. To find out more about this and other networking events in the area check our events listings or telephone Towns’ Management on 01924 326428.
